Hill Country Wine Home Page
Texans have been cultivating grapes for over 150 years. By the turn of the 20th century, there were 25 wineries in Texas, but were closed in 1919 due to prohibition. They reopened in 1933 when the law was repealed. Today the wine industry in Texas has flourished into a billion dollar industry for the state. The number of wineries has expanded by 393 percent in the past eight years according to a Texas Tech University study.
There are several wineries in the surrounding hill country. Some of them include Three Dudes Winery in San Marcos, Dry Comal Creek, Fawncrest Vineyard, Driftwood Estate Vineyards, Mandola Estate and the Fredricksburg Winery.
